Miyadaiku Carpenter Experience
Yokohama is a city where you can experience both cutting-edge modern Japanese culture and long-established traditional culture. We introduce a unique tour where you can immerse yourself in both while enjoying the autumn foliage.
The highlight of this tour is the opportunity to apprentice under a “Miyadaiku” – traditional temple carpenters, whose craft boasts a history of 1,400 years and is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage! Hanamasu Mokko Co., Ltd. Shrine and Temple Architecture is the only place in Japan you can learn about Miyadaiku architecture and techniques directly from active temple carpenters.
This is a chance to appreciate Japan’s historical buildings from a whole new perspective. Enjoy a sustainable and innovative trip through the essence of Japanese culture with "Miyadaiku Tourism."

The main feature is that it crosses the urban space of Yokohama. While many ropeways in Japan utilize mountain slopes, this is the country’s first urban ropeway passing between buildings. The 630-meter journey takes about 5 minutes one way, with exciting views over roads and walkways as you move between landmarks like the giant Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris Wheel.
