Sankeien Garden
Yokohama is known as a city where Western and Japanese cultures have blended together since the opening of the port, creating a place where diverse arts and culture coexist. This month, we’d like to introduce a special tour where you can fully enjoy Yokohama’s artistic and cultural charm!
Sankeien Garden unfolds with breathtaking scenery designed as though it were a work of art. The harmony of historic architecture and nature is its greatest appeal.
Within its vast 175,000 m² grounds, historic buildings relocated from Kyoto, Kamakura, and other regions are skillfully arranged. Among the 17 structures, 10 are designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan, and 3 are designated Tangible Cultural Properties by the City of Yokohama. The garden itself is recognized as a Place of Scenic Beauty by the national government.
Another highlight of Sankeien is its seasonal events. From October 3rd to 7th, the “Moon Viewing Festival” will be held, where you can enjoy an enchanting evening of music and moonlight in the garden. From November 21st to December 14th, the “Autumn Leaves Walkway” opens, offering a leisurely stroll through colorful maples, blazing red momiji, and golden ginkgo trees.

Zou-no-Hana Terrace / Zou-no-Hana Café
Just as foreign and Japanese cultures met and mixed in Yokohama when the port first opened, Zou-no-Hana Terrace operates with the concept of “cultural exchange,” where people and cultures come together, connect, and create new cultural expressions. The name “Zou-no-Hana” (“Elephant’s Trunk”) comes from the pier’s shape, which over time came to resemble the nose of an elephant.
The Terrace combines an art space and a café, regularly hosting cultural programs in art, performing arts, music, and more. From its open glass windows, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the sparkling Yokohama Port. It’s a place where anyone can drop by casually.
The Zou-no-Hana Café, located inside, is a takeout-style café that promotes art through food. It offers original dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, as well as the charming “Zou-no-Hana Soft-Serve Ice Cream” — perfect for a break during a stroll!
Come to Zou-no-Hana Terrace to experience art, relax at the café, and spend time in your own way.
