Yokohama English Garden
In Yokohama, where vibrant flowers and autumn foliage color the city, why not enjoy breathtaking scenery and seasonal events?
The Yokohama English Garden (official website), which once received the Award of Garden Excellence from the World Federation of Rose Societies, is a true hidden gem where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
Roses, a symbol of Yokohama, have a special history: after the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, rose seedlings were gifted from the United States, and to this day they are cherished as a symbol of Japan–U.S. friendship.
Inside the garden, you can admire around 2,200 varieties of roses, along with a wide range of seasonal flowers and trees. The autumn roses are at their best from mid-October to mid-November, offering deeper, richer colors and fragrances distinct from those of spring.
Through October 31 (Fri.), the garden features a seasonal Halloween Display, with festive decorations throughout the grounds. In addition, for three nights only, from October 24 (Fri.) to 26 (Sun.), the garden will host a special evening light-up event, Halloween Night! Visitors can enjoy strolling through the garden at night, surrounded by a magical Halloween atmosphere.

Yamashita Park & Yamashita Koen Street
Yamashita Park offers a prime seaside location where visitors can fully enjoy the beauty of autumn. From mid-October, the autumn roses bloom in full splendor, set against the backdrop of the historic Hikawa Maru ship and the modern skyline of Minato Mirai — a truly unique scene you can only experience here.
Alongside the park, Yamashita Koen Street is renowned as one of Yokohama’s top spots for autumn foliage. From mid-November to early December, the approximately 800-meter row of ginkgo trees transforms into a brilliant golden avenue, creating a breathtaking view.
On clear days, the contrast between the blue sky and golden ginkgo leaves is especially striking. When the leaves begin to fall, the cobblestone walkways are covered like a vivid yellow carpet, making every step a memorable experience.
Conveniently located within walking distance from central Yokohama, Yamashita Park & Yamashita Park Street is the perfect spot to refresh and enjoy seasonal flowers and foliage after shopping or dining in the city.
